The nardo is a bulbous plant of tropical American origin. It has a beautiful flower and is cultivated widely. Safford writes: "I found it escaped, growing in the Plaza de Magallanes, [now Plaza de Espana] Agaña, and transplanted it to my garden, where it bloomed monthly."
